What to Expect:
- Serve a one-year renewable term from January to December
- Participate in monthly virtual meetings and in-person sessions at key IEC national events

2025 IEC National Committees
Apprenticeship & Education Group
This group of committees supports apprenticeship programs, other technical training programs, codes and standards development and professional development.
Apprenticeship & Training Committee
The A&T Committee is a policy committee that maintains IEC’s National Standards of Apprenticeship, an apprentice training curriculum, and technical training for other field workers in accordance with its own committee Bylaws. The A&T Committee may include one or more subcommittees.

Codes & Standards Committee
The Codes & Standards Committee is an advisory committee that is comprised of IEC’s members on NFPA Code Making Panels and participate in various industry codes and standards panels, reviews and recommends changes in codes and standards documents, and communicates them to IEC members.

Professional Development Committee
The Professional Development Committee is an advisory committee that directs IEC’s management and continuing education programs including online training courses, and other programs that assist IEC chapters in providing management and continuing education to the members. This will include an Emerging Technology Taskforce dedicated to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and ensuring members are prepared to leverage these to maintain a competitive edge.

This group of committees maintains membership policies, monitors chapter development, oversees membership related programs and services like IEC events and national awards.

The Membership Committee maintains and oversees IEC’s membership development; monitors the new chapter formation process, requests for chapter jurisdiction changes, and chapter marketing plans and assessments; and develops member growth programs.

The Government Affairs Committee is an advisory committee that sets IEC’s national legislative agenda, monitors progress in achieving IEC’s legislative and regulatory objectives, communicates related news to IEC chapters and members, and assists chapters and regions in developing state and local programs.

PAC-Freedom Fund Committees
The PAC-FREEDOM FUND Committees are advisory committees that work in cooperation with the Government Affairs Committee to direct fund raising and program development for IEC’s Political Action Committee (PRIDE PAC) and Political Education Fund (FREEDOM FUND). They advise staff on recipients of campaign contributions and develop informational campaigns relating to public policy issues.

MOP and Bylaws Committee
The MOP and Bylaws Committee annually reviews and recommends changes or amendments to the IEC Bylaws and Manual of Procedures that govern the IEC. Ensuring that the governing documents are clear, consistent, and aligned with legal and organizational requirements, the Committee’s purpose is to uphold transparency, structure, and accountability within the IEC.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee provides financial oversight for the IEC in relation to budgeting, financial planning, reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies.

Nominations Committee
The Nominating Committee solicits and interviews candidates for Executive Committee officer positions and recommends a slate of officers for approval by the House of Delegates at each annual member meeting.

Chapter Executive Director Council
The Chapter Executive Director Council comprised of all Executive Directors of chartered IEC Chapters in good standing discuss issues that impact chapters, assist council members in learning skills and strategies for serving their chapters more effectively, and recommend new benefits and services that impact chapters and their members to the appropriate national committee(s).
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is composed of the five elected officers (see National Officers above) plus the executive vice president, who serves as a non-voting ex officio member. The Executive Committee monitors the success of the executive vice president in achieving the goals set by the Board. The Executive Committee may also exercise the powers of the Board when the Board is not in session. The national president serves as chair of the Executive Committee.

Strategic Partner Council
The Strategic Partner Council includes a representative from each Strategic Industry Partner. The Council serves in an advisory role to the IEC Board of Directors in communicating platinum partner member concerns and industry perspectives.
IEC National Committees
IEC Committees meet throughout the year to develop new programs, evaluate existing programs, and make recommendations to the Board of Directors for new policies and services. All contractor members, employees of member companies, and chapter staff are eligible to serve on committees. Participating on a committee is an excellent opportunity to help guide IEC, engage with other IEC members at the national level, and make a difference in the association and industry.
